In a major initiative to safeguard the interests of the Odia film industry, Producer Sanjay Mohanty, recently appointed as the President of the Indian Film Makers Association (IFMA) – Odisha Chapter, has announced the launch of the Odia Films Anti-Piracy Cell.

The new Anti-Piracy Cell has been established to provide dedicated support to IFMA members and Odia film producers in combating online piracy, illegal distribution, and copyright infringement. The initiative aims to protect films released in theatres, on OTT platforms, and across digital media.

The cell will work in coordination with cybercrime authorities, legal experts, and digital monitoring teams to identify and remove pirated copies from platforms such as Telegram, torrent websites, cloud storage services, and illegal streaming portals. It will also assist filmmakers in copyright protection, evidence collection, and legal enforcement against piracy.

Speaking on the initiative, Sanjay Mohanty said:

“Piracy is one of the biggest challenges facing the film industry today. Through the IFMA Odisha Anti-Piracy Cell, we are committed to protecting the hard work of filmmakers and ensuring that creators receive the recognition and revenue they deserve. This initiative will strengthen the future of Odia cinema.”

The Odia Films Anti-Piracy Cell will offer:

  • Monitoring and detection of pirated film content online.
  • Takedown requests for unauthorized uploads.
  • Coordination with Cyber Crime Police and legal authorities.
  • Copyright and intellectual property support for IFMA members.
  • Awareness programs on digital rights and content protection.

The initiative is expected to become one of the first organized anti-piracy support systems dedicated to the Odia film industry, reinforcing IFMA’s commitment to protecting filmmakers’ creative works and promoting a secure digital ecosystem for regional cinema.
